Heiðlóa
The European golden plover — heiðlóa in Icelandic, heath plover — has been the unofficial herald of spring in Iceland for centuries: tradition holds that winter is truly over when you hear the first heiðlóa calling. Its arrival in late April marks the retreat of snow and the beginning of the nesting season across Iceland's open heathlands. In breeding plumage — jet black belly, golden-speckled back — the golden plover is one of the most beautiful birds in the Icelandic summer.

How it works: Hang your piece in a window or place it in front of a warm light source. The intricate silhouette of the bird is revealed when backlit - delicate and striking against natural light.
Note on Material: Every roll of white filament has its own character - even the same "white" can vary slightly from batch to batch, ranging from a cool, bright white to a warmer ivory tone. If you would like several pieces to match exactly, order them together and they will be printed from the same roll.
Printed to order: Your piece is 3D printed on demand by Bjarni himself in Germany and shipped to you as soon as it is ready. A one-person workshop can take a few days longer than a big print farm - but your order is made with care, and it will get to you.
