Skógafoss

Skógafoss thunders 60 metres from the edge of Iceland's ancient coastal cliff on the South Coast, the sheer volume of water producing a permanent rainbow in the spray on sunny days. In Norse legend, the first Viking settler of the area buried a treasure chest behind the falls — when locals pulled it from the water centuries later, only the ring on the lid remained, which became the ring on the door of Skógar's church.
